The foundation of the Kirkbrae Group was laid in 1961 when Henry L. Richard Sr., with just a pickup truck, his construction skills and personal integrity, began building homes as the Richard Construction Company.Thanks to his devotion to quality, attention to detail and entrepreneurial spirit, in just two years the company began building apartments and some of the first condominium conversions in Rhode Island.
A few years later, the continuing growth of the company led to the formation of the Kirkbrae Group and the company broadened its activities to include commercial construction projects.
The Kirkbrae Group today remains a family business, managed by Henry's three sons--Greg Richard, Henry Richard Jr, and Paul Richard--with a third generation entering the business as well.
In size and scope, The Kirkbrae Group bears little resemblance to its modest beginnings as the Richard Construction Company. However, the same values endure--devotion to an honest product, quality workmanship, responsible development and commitment to improving the communities where the company and its employees live and work.
